Blog 4: Jimmy´s Hall Review
Hi all! I hope all is well and that you enjoyed our film!
The film isn't my favorite, but it's a great film. The director, Ken Loach, is one my my favorite directors because he always makes movies about different political and social conflicts. I like how the film is almost like a direct continuation of The Wind that Shakes the Barley even though they were not made with that intention. It is a great perspective of the Irish post civil war era.
I liked that the actors all have Irish accents, because it is different from the typical English that students hear in class. About Jimmy Gralton, he was a real person and the film is based on true events.
My favorite character was obviously Jimmy hehehe. I think he is a great protagonist and he really cares about people and changing the world. He's my hero!
One thing I didn't like about the film was that sometimes it was slow, but in overall I think it is a great film.
My favorite scene is when they go to the cottage and help the family get their home back. I especially admire the speech that Jimmy made because it seemed to really inspire all the people that were there. I also agreed with the speech because I think it was very unjust what the landlord did to the family.
I need to mentioned that I loved when Jimmy´s mother pretended to lose the key so she could help Jimmy escape, it was brilliant.

Now it's your turn!

ResponderBorrarI thougth this movie like a continuation of the other Ken Loach's movie. That is good beacause you have two differents times and see the changes in Ireland.
ResponderBorrarI'm sorry, I totally forgot to watch the movie, but I promise I will do it one day! and I will take your opinion about it.
ResponderBorrarI' like so much this movie, because had to much music and irish dance, and I like this.
ResponderBorrarIt's an interesting story. Everything we do is political, and in this case dancing is a powerful way of protesting against the system!
